I recently received an e-mail that contained a picture of people from the Muslim faith worshipping in the streets of a large American city. They are on the street (stopping traffic!) because their temples are overflowing leaving no room inside the temple doors.
The e-mail exposed glaring differences between these Muslim worshippers and many of the people who slap the label ‘Christian’ on their lapel. We are hard pressed to fill our churches on a Sunday morning let alone spill the overflow out onto the street. Where is this devotion in Christians? Where is this passion?
I don’t intend to blog about potential problems within the Christian church. My intent is to get you thinking about your own walk with God. Are you passionate? How do you express your devotion to Him? Do you look forward to time spent alone with God in his Word? Do you talk to Him?
If you do, are you excited about what you’re learning? Do you apply what you learn to your life?
The email read like it was calling for the government to intervene. I’m calling for the Holy Spirit to intervene – in my life. God wants passion from me. He wants my devotion. His stand on apathetic faith is clear.
Revelation 3:16, “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
