Not too long ago Christian and Nicholas got into an argument over a toy. I gave them plenty of time to resolve the issue only stepping in when it was clear it might come to blows. After a cooling down time, I brought the boys together to discuss what they could do differently next time. When we were finished, I asked the boys to shake hands.
Like a gentleman, Christian promptly thrust out his hand toward Nick. Nick stared at the offering wavering in front of him. He then leaned forward and wildly flapped his hands up and down.
Christian’s eyes widened with misunderstanding. Nick’s expression clearly asked, “How in the world is this going to help us?”
When things are uncertain or unclear we can flounder like Nicholas, flapping our hands and missing the point. I’m so thankful the God never left the necessities unsaid. God leaves no doubt as to what He requires of His creation.
God’s Word is clear.
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
Micah 6:7-8, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
