This idea comes from Jessica, in St Thomas, Ontario. She and her son tackled the project together making a bedside table that is both functional and a wonderful memory of time spent together. It starts with an old 7-up crate from Jessica’s childhood.
She added a piece of wood to the top to make it level. Then they painted the inside the same gray as her son’s bedroom walls.
They spray painted some couch legs they found in the junk drawer at their cottage and drilled holes for the legs to screw into.
They cut a scrap piece of flooring from his room and hot glued it to the top.
They edged the front with a leather strip left over from a previous upholstery project. They bought a fabric bin to hold his stuff that slid neatly inside the crate.
They are thrilled with the results and the only expense was the fabric bin, the rest of the supplies were found around the house. It is the perfect bedside table for a preteen room.
