Crockpot baked beans and sweet cornbread

This recipe is WONDERFUL. I love baked beans. I mean, really, really love them. So when my friend Jessica told me that she altered the recipe on the back of a bag of Navy Beans and cooked them in her crock pot, I was intrigued. When she insisted the beans were cooked to perfection, I was hooked. I ran right out and bought my bag of Navy beans.

This small dish was all that remained after my three little pigs had their full. The recipe was a hit, all around. I added a side of homemade cornbread. Another hit.

Soak the beans in water overnight (12 hours). The next morning cover them with fresh water and bring to a boil. Boil for 1 hour.

Transfer to crockpot and add 1 TBSP dry mustard, 2 cups of brown sugar, 1 cup molasses, 1 TBSP salt, 1/2 TBSP pepper, 1 TSP savory.

Fry in a pan 2 small onions, 1/2 a package of bacon. Add to crock pot.

cook on low 6-8 hours. The longer it cooks, the more the beans darken in color.
