Homemade wallpaper and paste

Today’s project started with a gift. My mom purchased me a large map of Canada. Unfortunately, the map is outdated.

That set me on the hunt for decor ideas that involved a map. I decided to rip/cut some of the edges of the map, hang it as wallpaper, and add a Scripture verse. This will fill a large blank wall space in the boys bedroom.

The map has a cloth backing, so the ripping didn’t go very well. I used my scrapbooking scissors with the heartbeat edge to cut the map.

I used this recipe for homemade wallpaper paste (because I am far too cheap to spend money on paste!). It cooked up fast and only required three ingredients. Flour, sugar, and water.

After letting it cool, I “painted” the paste on the back of the map with a paintbrush. Then, I folded the map in half (right sides facing out) and let the paste set for 5 minutes. Then, I pressed it to the wall and used a damp cloth to smooth out the wrinkles.

Come back next week to see the added Scripture verse.
