Part 2: Homemade Wallpaper and Paste

As promised, here is the picture of the finished map in the boys room. Last week we applied the map to the wall using home-made wallpaper paste. If you try this at home, be sure the paste is SMOOTH. Any lumps will show through. Also, clean the area surrounding the edges of your wallpaper immediately after hanging the paper. I waited until the next day and the dried paste was very, very hard to remove.


As you can see in the photo, I penciled lines onto the wall to ensure the letters went straight. I didn’t use a stencil for the letters, just free-handed to the script in pencil, then traced in paint.

However, since completing this project, I have learned there is a very easy, very inexpensive way to apply printed-at-home letters that can be transferred onto your project.
