In the Shadow

Today they chased shadows. They made themselves big and tall and the sun stretched their forms to laughable lengths. Then, they twisted and curved, and the shadow lumped into a misshapen form. But big or small, their shadow could not reflect the details of their smiles or their silly faces.

And just like that, I get it.

This crippled world is a shadow. It is incapable of capturing the reality of eternity. Everything good and lovely here, everything that fills me to the brim of happiness, is a shadow of the eternal joy to come.

My greatest love is a shadow of the Greatest Love. My greatest joy is only a drop compared to Living Water. The Light of the World illuminates my steps in the valley of the shadow. By His strength, I will sing in the dark because when the shadow looms largest, the Light shines brightest.
